Recieved a rather funny Email from my friend Mahesh this morning. Thought I’d share it with all of you reading the blog …
In Pharmacology, all drugs have two names, a trade name and generic name. For example, the trade name of Tylenol also has a generic name of Acetaminophen. Aleve is also called Naproxen. Amoxil is also call Amoxicillin and Advil is also called Ibuprofen.
The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viaaagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Well, Blogging is cool ! And however silly it might be for some people, I must confess I am totally in love with this unique medium. There are a few blogs that I regularly visit, some for learning new stuff, some for fun and some to waste my time ! What I wanted to share today, was what my friends have been blogging about ….

As a 7-yr old, the best profession I thought, would be to fly airplanes. And so, when anyone asked me about my ambition in life, I would react in a flash by saying “When I Grow Up I want to be a Pilot ! ”
Well … well … that was 18 years ago, and the closest I have got to being a pilot in all these years, was when I played MS Flight Simulator at my pal Kedar’s place. And I did a terrible job at that.

In India, poor and illiterate patients are being used to test new drugs for the West and some are unaware they are even taking part in clinical trials.
I was casually munching away on my food, when a BBC news report shook my nerves ! We have all known India as an Outsourcing heaven, but how many of us have seen the dark side of outsourced patients?

Normally, an event like ‘The Queen’s Birthday’ would not make news for an Indian like me, but having moved to London you cannot help but stand up and take notice as the whole of England gathers up to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.
Well, yes on 21st April, 2006 and the Queen of England turned 80 !
(Trivia - Did you know the Queen has two birthdays? The Queen turned 80 on 21 April 2006, but will celebrate her official birthday on 17 June 2006. Read more : One Queen, Two Birthdays)

I recieved an interesting (rather suspicious) article yesterday from my friend Anuj Kacker. The article speaks about ‘In Sleep Advertising’ !! I gave it a brief read because it was supported with research figures from eMarketer.com and testimonials from (made up) VP’s of ad agencies.
My friend Kedar has done a decent evaluation of the whole thing. Sure makes for a fun read. Make sure you check it out on his blog post - In Sleep Advertising !
Yet, another example of — Why you should ‘not’ always trust the written word !

A little-known Taiwanese company has become a secret weapon in Microsoft’s arsenal. The outfit in question is High Tech Computer Corp., and it has helped Bill Gates & Co. extend Windows territory to smartphones, those souped-up handsets that can duplicate many of a desktop’s functions. HTC manufactures the phones for cellular operators who in turn slap their own brands on the devices. How important is HTC? A Microsoft exec says the two companies have “shared DNA.”

Aah those words … made Chaka Demus & Pliers famous ! And those were the exact words that came to my mind, just when I decided on write a post on ‘The Axe Effect’ !
I was intrigued by Nirali’s comment on Interactive Art … and was wondering myself how much the use of technology is prevalent in almost everything ! With technologies like Flash and active scripts its now possible to create brilliantly interactive adverts …. and what could help build a brand better than to engage its target audience in a way that actually allows them to ‘play around or fiddle’ with it !
