Okay, I’ll agree that the title is not exactly one the most fancy ones that I have managed to pull out, but read on and you’ll get the essence …
I just got back from yet another of my “leisure roams” and decided to “surf up” before hitting the bed. Well, having decided not to do any work I took the liberty to check my virtual spaces on Orkut and Facebook as well as dabble around in some of the forums that I actively participate in.
Well … Well … that was a really long break from the world of blogging. I had last posted an entry on the 15th of November last year. Between then and now, much has happened so let me give you a very quick update.
One of the most important things that has changed is …. I have city hopped again. This time from London to my home town Baroda. I am now in Baroda and have set-up a firm called Whirlwind. Whirlwind is a start-up close to my heart and offers progressive services like search engine marketing, online campaign management and corporate web(blog) development amongst a host of other services. In the first 2 months of its existence we have ramped up 7 clients and are on our way to expand further.
Here is something new for those of you who have got used to my flashy post titles. This one, as you can see is very simple … so then why have I used it? Well, there are quite a few reasons, the foremost being the context of this title is much more than just me talking about some generic updates in my life. But more than that, I used it ‘coz I couldn’t come up with anything else. (there you go!)
So, rather than doing an essay type post, lemme do a quick list here …
I would admit to the fact that I just love Wordpress and I believe it is one of those amazing apps that turn people into Evangelists! And having created or atleast started the entire Wordpress project, Matt Mullenweg has branded himself as a ‘demigod’ in the blogging community… but it seems that something has got Matt pissed. And I believe that something isn’t a bad something!
It turns out that, Matt has sent Sherman Hu (who is a well known Internet Marketer) a cease and desist letter, asking him to stop violating WordPress’ trademark and intellectual rights — apparently for using the word “WordPress†in his domain name -WordpressTutorials.com
I recently came across a trailer to the ’so-called’ sequel to Titanic. I must say that, the way the trailer has been made, I almost thought that we are actually going to have this movie playing in the local cinemas this summer. However, it is just a cool lil’ project that Derek Johnson (Real name Robert Blankenheim & maker of the sequel trailer) wanted to add to his portfolio.
Nevertheless, this is a brilliant technical effort considering the fact that it has been made using Adobe After Effects and Lightwave. It took Robert 23 films and lots of months to make this trailer. According to me … It’s a must watch !
Words just can’t do enough justice to describe the sheer brilliance of India’s batting maestro - Sachin Tendulkar. Having stayed out of international cricket for quite sometime, Sachin Tendulkar announced his return to the game with a classy century against West Indies.
The little master, who had been out of action since March after undergoing shoulder surgery, smashed an aggressive 141 off 148 balls in the day-night one-dayer at the Kinrara Oval, belting 5-sixers in his unbeaten knock. On a pitch of unreliable bounce, Tendulkar played an innings of high technical excellence to craft his 40th(whoooaaa!) one-day hundred.
Steve “The Crocodile Hunter” Irwin’s death on 4th of September, came as shock to many animal lovers, as the world lost a wonderful character. Steve Irwin, the khaki-clad wildlife stalker who won global fame with his televised death-defying crocodile stunts and whose booming voice made “Crikey!†in a ripe Australian accent an international catchword, was killed by a stingray while filming a documentary at the Great Barrier Reef off Australia’s northeast coast. This post is a tribute to a truly magnificent person, that Steve was ! May God bless his soul.
I came across a rather debatable article written by Dr. Jay Dubashi, where he claims that Nehru and Indira were scared of Indian businessmen getting too big for their boots. So they tried to keep them deliberately down !
While surfing through the vast blogosphere, I happened to visit a post on Polaroid-o-nizer by Arpit Jacob at his BlueSaze Blog.
Its a nifty lil’ tool that allows to make polaroid pictures from your exisitng photos. The only downsides … Allows to convert only online photos and you’ll have a tough time saving the pics as JPG. My advice try the bitmap option ! Worth a visit … check it out at Polaroid-o-nizer
Following are a couple of photos that I polaroid-o-nized … I converted one of my online images and tagged it as ‘Buff’ .. ;) … don’t know how many votes that’ll get, but the second one is tagged “Bare Buff” and it sure is !!
Okay all you Abhishek Bachchan fans can take a break !
Although I would love to rap and act as cool as him … I know it would be a failing attempt. However, something I am sure I can do much better is write about ‘my kind’ of stuff, and with the new ‘Meebo Me‘ plugin now active on my blog … I am ready to do my own version of ‘Right Here Right Now’ ! Being a wordpress plugin junkie [aren’t we all??] that I am, I had this urge to have this plugin added to my ever-growing list of plugins, since quiet some time! Now, that its added … I am on the look for something equally cool !
