Guy Kawasaki on 10 Tips For Successful Innovation …

I just came across a brilliant post by Joe Lewis at WebProNews, where he has summarized Guy Kawasaki’s opening keynote address at this year’s PubCon. In his talk, Guy has given a detailed overview outlining ten specific points that innovative companies should heed when developing new products and services.

Having long read Guy’s amazing book ‘Art of the Start’, I know the points outlined in Joe’s post and can vouch for a fact that this is some very, very useful information. Infact, I would urge each one of you to invest in Guy’s book if you haven’t already done so. Its a brilliant read, and there is so much more that he talks about.

Internet Marketers Backlash: Sherman Hu v/s Wordpress Matt

I would admit to the fact that I just love Wordpress and I believe it is one of those amazing apps that turn people into Evangelists! And having created or atleast started the entire Wordpress project, Matt Mullenweg has branded himself as a ‘demigod’ in the blogging community… but it seems that something has got Matt pissed. And I believe that something isn’t a bad something!

It turns out that, Matt has sent Sherman Hu (who is a well known Internet Marketer) a cease and desist letter, asking him to stop violating WordPress’ trademark and intellectual rights — apparently for using the word “WordPress” in his domain name -WordpressTutorials.com

Google Laps Up JotSpot …

Remember my post from coupla months back on the subject of “The Long Tail“? Well, if you do, I am sure you can also remember my fondness for Joe Kraus’s idea about the ‘Long Tail of Software’ and especially his PowerPoint pitch for his company JotSpot.com

Well, I guess someone at Google must have seen the same pitch, because Google recently announced its acquisition of JotSpot.

My Diwali Day …

Over a fortnight has passed since I last blogged and it isn’t the lack of news or ideas that kept me away from posting away on my Babble Belt. Infact I must have come across almost a dozen ‘bloggable’ ideas, but I never really got of to a start. That’s bad on my part … I agree … I could have atleast done a “Happy Diwali” post, like my buddy Kedar did. But, believe me this was one of the longest Diwali I have ever had !

Jawed Karim : The 3rd of YouTube.com’s Three Founders

Ohh Yeah, there is one more ‘King Ka-ching’ behind the whole $1.65bn YouTube.com acquisition by the Big G. Like most of the people(including my friend Kedar) , I too have been closely following the Google takeover, and there is a whole lot being said about the deal. But very few people actually know that there is a 3rd founder involved with the YouTube team.

YouTube founders Chad Hurley, Steven Chen and Jawed Karim

My 1st Film Looplet …

After having seen almost over a hundred different looplets all over the web, I finally got around to downloading FilmLoop software. Why didnt I do that earlier … well, well … the silly me always believed that FilmLoop just works with Flickr, and I am (surprisingly) not much of a flickr fan or user.

But anyways, now that I have ridden myself of the misconception, I would advise one and all to check out the slick tool they have at FilmLoop. Its very easy to use and generates fascinating flash looplets which can be hosted on your blogs, websites and myspace pages. And for all you Web2.0 fans, I am sure you’ll love the Web2.0ish features of this software.

MegaMasterClass 2006 : A test

Last coupla of days have been really, really tiring … But, I am not complaining ! Well, the reason is I have been attending the MegaMasterClass 2006 UK Seminar hosted by Alan Forrest Smith, for the last couple of days. Megamasterclass is hosted in Egham (a small but lovely lil’ town in surrey)at a luxury spa resort - The Savill Court Hotel. I have been totally exhilarated by the content delivered over the past two days and am looking forward to the last day tommorow. I am sorry, if you guys are looking for any meaty stuff here, but this post is a follow up to what I thought might be a nice little test to showcase the power of SEO and Wordpress. I’ll be doing a post on “MegaMasterClass : What I Learnt” in the coming few days, provided I don’t laze the sunday off !

Ad:Tech London 2006 …

Last week, we had what some call, a ‘fusion event’ which attracts the best from the worlds of Advertising/Marketing and that of Technology. Yes, that was precisely what Ad:Tech London was all about - All that’s new media !

As the market for Online Advertising increases, events like Ad:Tech London and Internet World are gaining more and more popularity. What makes such events more popular and accessible to general audience is the diversity of exhibitors and also the great conferences which cover topics ranging from email marketing to mobile marketing, affiliates to user-generated content. The focus, here, is not on the technology driving the various sectors but on the practical experience that will allow people to innovate, experiment and capitalise on this change.

Dr.Kotler on New-Age Marketing …

I recently came across a very intriguing interview involving marketing legend - Dr Philip Kotler, his eminent colleague at the Kellogg School of Management - Dr Bala V Balachandran and PagalGuy.com founder - Allwin Agnel.

PagalGuy.com has made available the audio and transcripts of the interview. They were also kind enough to allow me to host the audio file on my blog and share it with my readers. So, you can also listen to the interview by clicking on the ‘play’ button below !

What the Entrepreneurs Read …

While doing my daily dose of BusinessWeek reading, I came across an insightful article which absolutely warranted a post on my blog. So here it is !

In their quest to come up with a “summer reading list” , BusinessWeek asked entrepreneurs which books were most influential in helping them build their companies. These were the replies …

1. Carol Bartz - Executive Chairman, Autodesk

The Conative Connection : Acting on Instinct

“A little book called THE CONATIVE CONNECTION, by management consultant Kathy Kolbe, has been by my side for years. It explains motivations and work styles better than anything else I’ve read. In any business, you have to bring out the best in people. The only way to do that is to understand them.”
