About Me
Dreamer … Bibliomaniac … Entrepreneur … Sports Buff … all that and much more, rolled into one! Well, that is how one could sum up when asked what I am. But given the space and time, let me give you some more details about myself…
Hi … I’m Saumil Patel, and I write Saumil’s Babble Belt (as if it wasn’t obvious enough), to share my thoughts, ideas and various other experiences in the field of Online Marketing and also life in general. The ‘Babble Belt’ will be my personal space in the ever expanding virtual world of WWW.
Having indulged in niche blogging, I decided on having a blog for myself where I could share just about anything I wanted to, with the world! Although I am not a geek or a guru, I do plan to write on Internet Marketing, my quest for an MBA, Entrepreneurship, some books I read (even some I don’t) , movies, sports and whatever else that I feel like!
I started writing the Babble Belt in March 2006, and until my last “major” sabbatical, it has enjoyed a very healthy readership from people all over the globe. Now that, I have lounged without blogging for almost 6 months and sustained the Syrian hack attacks which completely took my blog down … I am back with a completely revamped blog(and rejuvenated energy).
I am really happy with the new design and given the Web2.0 craze, I have tried to load my blog with as much Web2.0 stuff as possible. Don’t believe me? Then try clicking on the image below ….
No wonder when I gave ‘re-naming’ my blog a thought I could only come up with “Saumil’s Babble Belt v2.0″ … lol !
On the professional side of things … I have over four years of experience in online marketing and advertising. Having graduated with a degree in Computer Engg. followed by a small but rewarding stint at an Interactive(Advertising) agency, Internet and Online marketing happened naturally. Over the course of last three years, I have been city hopping (from Baroda, to Mumbai, to Dubai, to London) while working as a Consultant with an Indian MNC.
I am now back in Baroda, in my new avatar as an Entrepreneur. I have founded a company (along with my part-time partner Mahesh) called Whirlwind. Whirlwind is a start-up close to my heart and offers progressive services like search engine marketing, online campaign management and corporate web(blog) development amongst a host of other services.
Before I end this page, I would like to mention that in a spite of confusion, I accidentally deleted the original profile page, rather than editing the same. Given the happenstance, I would like to include a gist of what was lost.
The only major loss according to me was that of an absolute ‘awesome’ collection of feedback and comments from my readers which include friends, many other Saumil’s (guys who share my name), a certain someone called Robert Blankenheim (now famous as Derek Johnson of the Titanic 2 video fame), and many others whom I have never met and known. I would like to extend a warm ‘thank-you’ to all of you. If you happen to stop by this page, please drop in new comments.
~ Saumil
