PowerToys for You, and for Me and the Entire Human Race …

I have such fond memories of an Annual Concert we had back in my school days, the theme for which was “Heal The World”, that each time I think of sharing something worthwhile the famous words by MJ - ” … for you and for me and the entire human race” indubitably occur to my mind ! Although this post has nothing to do with MJ or his songs, but the title just happened instinctively when I thought about this post … I like it, and so it stays .. :)

Time and again, I find myself tinkering with images, whether it is to create a new avatar for myself in some forum, or to upload the cool pic that I recently clicked, or just to further add to my online albums. The main issue faced is that the photos clicked are usually high-res pics taken using digicams and most online services still require you to limit the size of pics you upload, leading to a huge disparity between the image sizes.

Now, considering the fact that I am not the best guy when it comes to using photoshop and similar softwares, its evident that I am always on the lookout for nifty tools that make life easier when it comes to handling pics. It is also very often, that I get asked, “How can I resize my pictures?” or “How can I decrease the size of my pictures?” or better yet, “How do I go about resizing my pics so that I don’t loose much quality?”. An obvious answer would be to say, Go use Google, but I think that’s being rude. Needless to say that, going to Google was precisely what I did when I din’t knew the answer myself ;) … but I’ll up the ante here by sharing some worthy tools!

If you happen to use XP, there is a load of PowerToys offered by Microsoft, which makes life much easier. One of my personal favourites is ‘The Image Resizer’, which makes it very easy to rezise large images. After a quick install you can simply right click on an image and resize it. But that’s not all that MS has to offer … make sure you check out other PowerToys on the list as well ! Find them here - Microsoft XP PowerToys !

For those of you, who don’t use XP, try ‘Batch Picture Resizer‘ ; I personally don’t use it, but it seems to be a similar alternative to the above mentioned tool.

Well, Well …. I am still humming to Heal The World by Michael Jackson ! Don’t you love it, too?
