I Shoot and I Score !

Come Wednesday and I feel a rejuvenated self !

Why you may ask, and the simple reason to this is because I play football. Yeah, and I absolutely love it. The last time I played football with so much enthusiasm (or for that matter the last time I played football) was when I was in college, and that’s like 3 years ago.

Once I started working, I have never really got a chance to play football either due to the lack of time or due to the lack of enough playing members. Back in 2004, when I was in India, work was pretty intense and I could not spare much time for football or other sports. When I moved to Dubai, I had some time, but no place(and people) to play ! The closest I have got to actually playing football in these past 3 years is on my laptop ! (huge fan of EA Sports FIFA series)

Well, that is not the case now. Moving to London, has been a welcome change for more than just a few reasons and getting to play football is surely in that list. I now scoot back home early each Wednesday and then play five-a-side football from 8pm to 9pm. (sometimes more!)

We play on smaller turfs, with 5 or 6 players in a team and it is awesome fun ! The best part is the scorelines .. our last scoreline read 17-8 (we won, yippee!) I play at this place called PowerLeague in Norbury and its amazing to see so many other teams playing around you. I could easily spend a whole day there.

Check out the place I play on Google Earth :

Commentary : How did I come up with the Title for this Post?
Well, the title comes from a parody called ‘Welcome to India’ by two wickedly funny guys - Vikram MC and Ludakrishna. There is this bit in the song when they mention playing carrom and one of them says, ‘I shoot and I score’. Well, each time I scored (and I scored more than 5 times in the last game) this ‘I shoot and I score’ bit kept buzzing in my head. Not that I scored each time I shied at the (small) goal, but still a decent analogy. For those of you, who have heard the parody, you are in for a funny treat (more so if you are a Desi)

Checkout ‘Welcome to India’ :

[...] As I kept moving through the floors, I met up with so many familiar faces and it was great meeting up with all of them. Also ran into, a friend who plays 5-a-side with us. Turns out he handles Online Marketing for PartyPoker.com. I never knew that, he was into Internet Marketing and handling such a large volume of PPC traffic. Even he wasn’t aware of my involvement in niche marketing.(guess we both thought, football is the only thing we have in common !). He gave me some goodies as well … including PartyPoker hats and a deck of playing cards .. thanks ! [...]
